Grades 7 & 8 Maths
Courses’ Overview
Students at this level are moving towards more abstract concepts from concrete concepts. The CBSE Board syllabi focus more on real-life scenarios. Real-life scenarios allow students to deduct and use logic to find solutions. Students recognise the notion of proof and begin to understand why giving proof is important.
Courses’ Goal
At each level, CBSE build their syllabi around academic goals. The students progress at every level as they grow. Each level’s syllabus focuses on building specific abilities. For Grades 7 & 8 Maths, the syllabus focuses on building the students’ ability to use logic. They go about this by creating scenarios that promote using prior knowledge. At the course end, students should be able to use prior knowledge. Their ability to use logic develops. They use logic to follow steps in any given problem. The syllabi promote moving away from memorising facts. Instead, teachers encourage students to call upon mastered topics that resemble current problems. Finding old patterns with prior knowledge helps students remember past concepts. Prior knowledge acts as a stepping stone for the new concepts.
